Waking up every morning wondering “what should I post today?” is like wondering “what should I cook today?” with an empty fridge.

A content strategy is the grocery list that makes the whole week’s meals easy.

What is a content strategy?

Content strategy

A plan that says what content you’ll make, for which audience, with what goal, in which format and how often.

Without a strategy, content is a random diary. With one, it’s a sales machine.

Content pillars: 4–5 fixed topics

Pillars are the main themes all your content revolves around. You never run out of ideas, and the brand stays consistent.

1. Style tips (30%)

How to style one kurti.

“1 kurti, 3 office looks”

2. Product (25%)

Fabric, fit, details, new arrivals.

“A wash test of this cotton”

3. Trust & proof (20%)

Reviews, customer photos, process.

“Priya’s unboxing”

4. Behind the scenes (15%)

Jaipur printing, packing, Neha’s story.

“6 pairs of hands make one kurti”

5. Relatable fun (10%)

The life of working women.

“Monday morning wardrobe crisis”

Content by funnel stage

StageCustomer’s questionContent type
Awareness (TOFU)“Who is this brand?”Relatable Reels, style tips, trends
Consideration (MOFU)“Is this right for me?”Fabric close-ups, size guide, comparisons, reviews
Conversion (BOFU)“Why buy now?”Offers, limited stock, easy order steps, testimonials

The mistake: only BOFU (“Buy now!”) content. Like proposing marriage on a first meeting.

How to build a content calendar

A calendar is a simple table: date, pillar, format, topic, caption hook, CTA, status.

The magic of batchingInstead of making content every day, shoot 4–5 Reels together on one day of the week. For Neha, Sunday is shoot day, and the whole week is tension-free.

Add important dates to the calendar too: salary week (1st–7th), festivals, wedding season, sale periods.

One piece of content, five places

Repurpose a “1 kurti 3 looks” Reel like this:

  • Reel → Instagram and Facebook
  • A photo of each look → carousel
  • Behind-the-scenes clip → story
  • Best look → WhatsApp broadcast
  • Top-performing version → ad creative

Effort once, benefit five times.

StyleStreet’s real problem

StyleStreet’s content was just a “catalogue”

26 of the last 30 posts were just a product photo + “DM for price”. No story, no tips, no customers.

Why would new people follow? There’s no value for them. And where would a buyer’s trust come from? Fix: 5 pillars and a funnel-based mix.

Practical example: One week of StyleStreet’s calendar

Your mission: 30-day content calendar

Build a 30-day calendar for StyleStreet in a Google Sheet:

  1. Decide 5 content pillars and their %
  2. Write 6 topic ideas per pillar (30 in total)
  3. Choose a format for each topic (Reel/carousel/story/photo)
  4. Write the funnel stage and CTA in every row
  5. Mark important dates (salary week, festivals)
  6. Choose a batching day and make the first week’s shoot list

Output for the client project

Your project file now has a Content Strategy + 30-Day Calendar:

  • 5 pillars with % mix
  • 30 topics with format and CTA
  • Funnel balance: ~50% awareness, 30% consideration, 20% conversion
  • Sunday batching shoot plan
  • Repurpose checklist

Golden rule: Make content for the customer, not for a catalogue. Give value first, then trust comes, then orders.

In the next episode: In Chapter 9 we’ll learn to write words and visuals that stop the scroll and (lovingly!) push the customer to act: copywriting and creative strategy.
