Organic content is a good shop that opened on the right street. People come slowly.

Paid ads mean putting your signboard at every corner of the street, only for people who could become your customers.

But put the signboard in the wrong place and the money is gone. So, the basics first.

The difference between paid and organic

OrganicPaid

When it stopsThe content staysMoney stops, the ad stops

The two work together. The content that performed best organically in Chapter 14 is what works best in ads.

How ads work: the auction

Every time Priya opens Instagram, a tiny auction takes place. Many advertisers want to show her an ad.

Meta decides which ad shows, based on three things:

  1. Bid: how much you’re willing to pay
  2. Estimated action rate: how likely Priya is to act on this ad
  3. Ad quality: how relevant and good the ad is
Good newsThe highest bidder doesn’t always win. A good, relevant ad can win with a smaller bid.

The ad funnel: TOFU, MOFU, BOFU

TOFU: Strangers→MOFU: People who know you→BOFU: Almost customers
LevelWhoThe ad’s jobStyleStreet ad
TOFUPeople who’ve never seen StyleStreetGrab attention“POV: 8:45 AM wardrobe crisis” Reel
MOFUWatched a video, visited the profileBuild trustWash test, reviews, size guide
BOFUReached the website/WhatsApp, didn’t buyGet the action“The kurti you liked, COD + free exchange”

When you should NOT run ads

Ads are an amplifier. They speed up a good thing, and destroy a bad thing faster.

  • The profile/website is confusing
  • DM replies are slow (Chapter 12)
  • You don’t know the product margin (Chapter 2)
  • No tracking, so you won’t know what worked
  • There’s no stock

StyleStreet fixed all this in Stages 3 and 4: profile, replies, website, speed and conversion. Now it’s time for ads.

How to split ₹10,000 across the funnel

In Chapter 7 the Meta Ads budget was ₹10,000/month. A simple split for a new brand:

  • TOFU ₹4,000: best Reels to new people
  • MOFU ₹3,000: trust content for video viewers and profile visitors
  • BOFU ₹3,000: offers for WhatsApp/website visitors

As data comes in, put more into whichever level gives cheaper results.

StyleStreet’s real problem

Neha’s “Boost post” button

Neha used to hit “Boost” on every new post, ₹500 each time. Audience: “Jaipur, women, 18–65”.

  • No funnel: strangers were shown “Buy now”
  • The goal was “engagement”, so likes came, not orders
  • No tracking

₹6,000 went in 2 months, with no idea about orders. The Boost button is easy, but it isn’t a strategy.

Practical example: StyleStreet’s first ad funnel

LevelAudienceCreativeBudget/month
TOFUJaipur + 50 km, women 24–38, interests: office wear, kurtisTop 2 organic Reels₹4,000
MOFUWatched 50%+ of a video / engaged with the profileWash test + review carousel₹3,000
BOFUStarted a WhatsApp chat, didn’t order“Size chart + COD + free exchange”₹3,000

Your mission: Design your ad funnel

For StyleStreet or any local business:

  1. Fill in a readiness checklist before running ads (5 points)
  2. Write the audience for TOFU, MOFU and BOFU
  3. Write one creative idea for each level
  4. Split ₹10,000 across the 3 levels and explain why
  5. Decide the main metric for each level
  6. Write the difference between “Boost post” and an Ads Manager campaign in 3 lines

Output for the client project

Your project file now has a Paid Ads Funnel Plan:

  • Ads readiness checklist ✅
  • 3-level funnel: audience + creative
  • ₹10,000 budget split: ₹4k / ₹3k / ₹3k
  • A metric for each level

Golden rule: Ads are amplifiers. Fix the machine first, then increase the volume. And show every person the ad for their level.

In the next episode: In Chapter 22 we’ll open Meta Ads Manager and understand campaign structure: campaign, ad set and ad.
