A popular salon owner in Jaipur gets 40 working women a day. StyleStreet doesn’t have that audience.

Partnership means reaching your customer through someone else’s door, with both sides benefiting.

What is affiliate marketing?

Affiliate marketing

Partners (affiliates) promote your product and earn a commission on every sale. No sale, no payment.

Influencer marketing (Chapter 13) often has a fixed fee. Affiliate is performance-based. Lower risk.

StyleStreet’s possible partners

Micro creatorsAudience trust10% commission code
Salons / boutiquesFootfall of working womenDisplay + QR, 10%
Corporate HR / women’s clubsBulk, office audienceGroup discount
Complementary brandsJewellery, footwear, bagsCo-marketing, cross-promo

Tracking and payment

  • Unique codes: SALON10, RIYA10
  • Affiliate links + UTM (Chapter 37)
  • Shopify affiliate apps for automatic tracking
  • A monthly statement: how many orders, how much commission, when it’s paid
  • Decide in advance the commission rule for returns/exchanges

How much commission?

Think from the margin, not from the heart.

  • Order value ₹960, profit (before marketing) ~₹411
  • 10% commission = ~₹96
  • ~₹315 left, and there’s no ad cost for this customer

The ads’ cost/order was ₹250 (Chapter 28). If affiliates bring orders for ₹96, they’re a cheaper channel.

Co-marketing: a friendship between brands

A jewellery brand + StyleStreet: an “Office look combo”.

  • A joint Reel: kurti + earrings styling
  • A giveaway (honest, the right audience)
  • A discount card for the other brand in each parcel
  • Email/WhatsApp list cross-promotion (only within permission; no data sharing)

StyleStreet’s real problem

Every sale had to be won alone

Neha was doing all the marketing alone. The ads budget was limited (₹10,000). But Jaipur had so many people with an audience like Priya: salons, boutiques, creators, women’s clubs.

There was no system for turning them into partners.

Practical example: StyleStreet partner programme (pilot)

32 orders, with no upfront risk.

Your mission: Design a partner programme

For StyleStreet:

  1. List 10 possible partners (5 types)
  2. Decide the commission % and show the margin maths
  3. Choose a tracking method (codes/links/app)
  4. Write a partner outreach message
  5. Write 6 points for a partner agreement (commission, returns, payment date, brand rules)
  6. Plan one co-marketing idea fully
